Chaffee Crossing Receives Second Expansion Solutions Logistics Award of Excellence

Chaffee Crossing was honored by national site selector magazine, Expansion Solutions, to be selected for the second year in a row with the Logistics Award of Excellence. This award recognizes communities that incorporate logistics in their overall economic development plan. Chaffee Crossing is at the intersection of two interstates and has two Class I rail lines, the AR River with multiple ports and a commercial regional airport to support industrial and commercial development. Chaffee Crossing Trails Map - TAP Grant map

FCRA and the City of Fort Smith Parks Department were approved for a $500,000 TAP grant from the AR Highway and Transportation Department in 2016. The funds will be used to connect and extend Phase I of the new Chaffee Crossing trails plan. In 2015, FCRA committed to spending up to $1.5 million to complete three phases of trails through Chaffee Crossing (approx. 6 miles) and the City of Fort Smith agreed to match that amount.
