The Chaffee Crossing HIstoric Preservation Organization received a grant from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program to complete renovation of Barracks #823, known as the Elvis Barracks.

FCRA and the City of Fort Smith Parks Department were approved for a $500,000 TAP grant from the AR Highway and Transportation Department in 2016. The funds will be used to connect and extend Phase I of the new Chaffee Crossing trails plan. In 2015, FCRA committed to spending up to $1.5 million to complete three phases of trails through Chaffee Crossing (approx. 6 miles) and the City of Fort Smith agreed to match that amount.
