Progress on the River Valley Sports Complex stopped many months ago, but Fort Smith officials and FCRA Board of Trustees members remain committed to the concept of it being developed for the community.
On the northeast corner of Roberts Boulevard and Taylor Avenue at Chaffee Crossing is the mess, as City Administrator Carl Geffken calls it, that is the River Valley Sports Complex. It’s been almost five years since the Fort Smith Board of Directors approved the project and more than seven since it was proposed. Now the city is trying to determine what comes next.

FCRA Board of Trustees continue search for new executive director.
A new master of biomedical science program will begin July 26 at the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) in Fort Smith. The program will provide “rigorous post-graduate training in basic science” to students who want to become physicians or further their careers in medical professions but who are not ready for a medical degree program.
The Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority Personnel Committee approved Friday, March 29, the process it wants to use in the hiring of the organization’s next director.
