The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith earned recognition this year as one of the top public universities in the South according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Colleges rankings, ranking No. 18 in the region.

This Is BIG news for UAFS. As a community, we should be very proud of the quality education our students are able to receive right here in Fort Smith. This is a critical element of our economic and community development, it helps to slow "brain drain" of our brightest and smartest, most talented kids from leaving to get an education and not returning, and it is a vital source of workforce development, i.e., consistently fueling a pipeline of educated employees to fill open jobs. Not just any employees--employees prepared to do the jobs well and help area business grow and succeed.

Congratulations, Dr. Terisa Riley and the educational staff at #UAFS! We are proud of you and support you as you continue this work critical to the survival of western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. We salute you!
