Chaffee Crossing to Host 14th Annual Western Arkansas Veterans Day Celebration

November 7 event honors veterans and celebrates America’s 250th anniversary.

The Chaffee Crossing Historic District will host the 14th Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, November 7, honoring America’s veterans and service members as the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary.

This year’s celebration will focus on America’s progression through a military lens, featuring military leaders from our community today before stepping back in time to experience Chaffee’s World War II history through living historians and letters from the museum’s collections.

Sylvia Pitzen Timmons, a U.S. Air Force veteran, will serve as the 2026 Grand Marshal. During her 10-year military career, Timmons served at NATO headquarters in Paris, France.

Keynote speakers include Colonel Stephen Brack, Garrison Commander of Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center, and Lt. Col. Jonathan D. “Winchester” Linn, Commander of the Arkansas Air National Guard, 184th Attack Squadron.

Additional activities include vintage military vehicles on display, military organization booths, food trucks and the Chaffee Barbershop & Military Museum.

The celebration is made possible by sponsors and community partners, including Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority, Choctaw Casino & Resort–Pocola, Grand Savings Bank, Foundation Life, Forsgren Inc., Mickle Griffin, Umarex USA, Walther Arms, First National Bank, MAHG, Crafton Tull, HSA Engineer and Redding Industries, along with additional supporters and volunteers.

The public is invited to attend this free community event on Saturday, November 7. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at 7313 Terry Street in Fort Smith, followed by the parade at noon.
